Gymnaestrada
Gymfest/Gymnaestrada
Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity – it’s magical!!
The World Gymnaestrada: (July, 2011 – Lausanne, Switzerland)
- is the biggest gymnastics and dance event in the world and is held every 4 years, like the Olympics
- has about 25,000 performers gather from around the world to display their mass routines for a week of amazing fun in Europe
- Some countries choreograph synchronized routines consisting of over 1,000 gymnasts
- In 2011 Ortona intends on sending a team to Switzerland for this magical week. They will perform a spectacular mass routine consisting of a combination of dance, tumbling and acrobatics.
- This event is open to both recreation and provincial stream competitive gymnasts and coaches ages 10 and up. The Dynamos, a group of senior performers ages 55 to 84, will be performing part of the show with us!
National Gymnaestrada: (June, 2010) will be held in Winnipeg this year and is the compulsory qualifier for the 2010 World Gymnaestrada. Ortona will definitely be attending.
Gymfest:
- is a provincial to Western Canadian event hosted in different designated cities annually
- not a competition, rather a demonstration sport open to all ages to attend
- it is an action packed weekend with fun seminars and social functions planned for the participants in addition to their group performances
- participants are taught a mass routine as one of their seminars which they perform with about 200 people from other clubs
