Participants will also be introduced to some more advanced tumbling as they work on round-offs and progressions for forwards and backwards handsprings as well as front saltos. This is a class for anyone who has experience in gymnastics and is comfortable jumping and landing on a trampoline in various body positions and has completed steps 1 & 2.

CanJump is a safe, fun, and motivational program that allows participants to track their progress throughout their classes. It is comprised of 12 different levels. It is an individually paced program. That means no pass or fail!

Program is broken down into tiers:

  • Steps 1 & 2: Focus on basic development – LTAD2 (ages 6-12)
  • Steps 3 & 4: Focus on skill acquisition – LTAD2 (ages 8+)
  • Steps 5 - 8: Focus on combinations of skills & mastering of skills- LTAD3 (ages 8+)

In order to progress to the next tier, all compulsory skills must be achieved. For example, in order to advance to Step 5-8 all skills must be successfully completed in steps 1-4.

Gymnastics is a fun-filled, non-contact activity through which children can develop self-confidence, experience a wide variety of challenges and opportunity for social interaction.
Gymnastics helps develop physical literacy in children. The development of these physical tools are needed to take part in activity and sport, both for healthy life-long enjoyment and for sporting success. You’re never too young to gain something positive from the sport of gymnastics.
For full details on Long Term Athlete Development refer to Gymnastics Canada website. We have selected a highlight from each stage.
