Coach Invitational - Tiny Tumblers - LTAD 1

Tiny Tumblers is a recommendation only program for girls who show listening skills, flexibility and coordination. Athletes in this program can advance to higher Ortona sessions like Tree Climbers, Aerials, the GFA badge program or the CanJump trampoline program.

This program allows the young athletes to develop basic gymnastics movements and strength, flexibility and balance. The Tumblers get to experience many types of equipment and gymnastics disciplines such as:

  • Bars
  • Beam
  • Floor
  • Vault
  • Trampoline

The young athletes learn the basics of gymnastics in a structured, safe and friendly environment with knowledgeable and professional coaches.

A Team Ortona Body Suit is required to be purchased and worn at all classes for this program. Body suit is non refundable. The body suit is specific for our Tiny Tumblers program and can be purchased at Ortona on the first day of class.  We will help size them accordingly.

We ask that the athletes bring a healthy snack with them, as there is a 10-15 minute break midway through the class.

Entry into a Recommendation Only Program:

Sometimes our coaches notice children who progress through the gymnastics exercises quickly and learn the gymnastics movements faster than their fellow classmates. Our coaches will then recommend them into one of our advanced recommendation only programs.

Ortona respects the diversity of our gymnasts, and we truly believe that all our athletes are extraordinary. By offering recommendation only programs, we continue to allow all our gymnasts to work and develop at their own pace without restricting their abilities.

An invitation into a recommendation only program is based on several factors such as an athlete’s physical ability, flexibility, coordination, listening skills and learning speed. Above all, an athlete should have a positive attitude and a desire to work hard and give it their all.

If your child has not been recommended into a specialty class, and you feel that they show potential, please feel free to request an assessment. This form can be found under the register tab in the navigation bar at the top of our website.

Ortona’s Programs:

Ortona offers gender-specific programs for athletes focused on Men’s Artistic Gymnastics or Women’s Artistic Gymnastics. Ortona also offers a co-ed program for athletes who are undecided on what discipline to pursue.

Gymnastics is an ideal activity for preschoolers. It is an excellent physical way to develop gross motor skills, spatial awareness, coordination, strength, power, flexibility, musical awareness and creativity. Gymnastics is also a fun-filled, non-contact activity through which children can develop self-confidence, experience a wide variety of challenges and opportunity for social interaction.

Gymnastics helps develop physical literacy in children. The development of these physical tools are needed to take part in activity and sport, both for healthy life-long enjoyment and for sporting success. You’re never too young to gain something positive from the sport of gymnastics.
For full details on Long Term Athlete Development refer to Gymnastics Canada website. We have selected a highlight from each stage.
